Blue Bayou Resort is mostly a Glamping style family owned campground longing South Harbour at the Heart of the Highland. Once you get here, you'll be immerse within the forest of the Aspy Valley with mountains all around and water at your tipi toes. Come to Cape Breton Highlands most Glamorous Campground. We have your glamping favorites as in geodesic domes, two bedroom cottages, Tiny homes and Shacks.

Come and enjoy a camping excursion like no other. Spend time with your friends and family around a campfire cooking hotdogs and roasting marshmallows for your S'mores. Enjoy an afternoon on the water on a kayak, canoe or SUP board. Swim or snorkel in our beautiful Harbour right off our Dock. Go to one of Cape Breton's most beautiful beaches just minutes away and see exactly what John Cabot saw when he finally reached our land back in 1498. Once your day is done, a comfortable bed is waiting inside your stay which also includes a private bathroom.

HEART OF THE HIGHLANDS

Blue Bayou Resort has replaced some of our classic dome tents with 10 new luxurious, unique dome cottages in 2026. Situated on South Harbour, a few hundred metres from the Cape Breton National Park limits. Most visitors will drive all day just so they get back to their hotels in Baddeck or Sydney.  For this National Park to be enjoyed, you need to leave the beaten path, as in "The Cabot Trail," to truly enjoy this part of the world. You'll have all the chances to do so when the whole Park is at your doorstep. Breathtaking places like White Point, just up the road from our campground, or Meat Cove and Bay Saint Laurence at the tip of the Highlands are less than 30 to 45 minutes away. Cheticamp is only 90 minutes away on one side, while Smokey Mountain is about a half-hour drive on the other side. "The outer limits of one of Canada's best National Parks". When you walk out of your New Dome Cottage, your Classic Dome tent, the Cozy Cottage, your Bayou Tent or the Boogie Shack in the morning, nature will be awaiting you to enjoy.

You can also spend some time kayaking, canoeing or paddle boarding our Harbour or even spend the day at the beach that separates South Harbour from the Ocean. Enjoy nights under a full blanket of stars, roasting marshmallows in front of an epic campfire. Then wake up the next day just to let the sunrise over the Harbour fill your soul with serenity and begin yet another memorable day here at the Blue Bayou Resort.

The past seasons were memorable years, and we've experienced many smiles and excited glampers. I've met a lot of people from all over our planet and shared some memories with most of them. We can't wait to meet our future new guests and returning guests. There’s no place like “dome”.
